New Dehli, March 17- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said his party has given him a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha poll against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi from Varanasi. But he said he would take a final call after getting the response of the people at a rally in the constituency on March 23. The former Delhi chief minister also dared the Gujarat chief minister to contest from one seat instead of looking at a “safe seat”.

“We have to defeat BJP’s Narendra Modi. The party has asked me to contest against him. I know this is a big challenge. But we’ve come here to lay down our lives for the country. I have only one wish – like Bhagat Singh, I am ready to sacrifice my life for the sake of the nation,” Kejriwal said at a rally in Bangalore.

He said he was yet to make up his mind over contesting from Varanasi.

“I will go to Varanasi and I ask people of the entire country to come to the city on March 23. The party’s ticket means nothing to me. The day people of the country give me the election ticket, I will contest the polls against Modi. If people of Varanasi give me responsibility, I’ll accept it,” he said.

Taking a jibe at Modi, Kejriwal said the BJP leader should take up challenge to fight from one seat.

He said: I heard Modi is contesting from two seats. He is looking for a safe seat. But then, it will seem he is only representing Gujarat and not the country. The PM candidate should be brave enough to contest from one seat.

Kejriwal said there was a wave in favour of the “aam aadmi” and not Modi.
