Kuala Lumpur, March 21- Malaysia has relatively progressed from poverty eradication to sustain a stable economic growth and development, says former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He said this was because the leaders had chosen to be pragmatic, instead of following socialism and capitalism ideologies which would ruin the country, in the long run.
“Malaysia is relatively stable, fortunate for us our leaders back then decided that we should be pragmatic and we decided to do what can be done, rather than be guided by these ideologies,” he told reporters here Thursday.
Earlier, Dr Mahathir was invited to deliver a lecture, ‘Poverty Issues in Malaysia’s Economic Development’ at Universiti Malaya here today.
