Hanoi, March 21 – Domestic petrol prices rose for the second time this year effective Wednesday by an average of 180 VND (about US$0.01) per litre, with authorities citing high global prices for the hike.

As of March 19 noon, all petrol stations belonging to Petrolimex, PV Oil and Mipec companies were selling RON 95 and RON 92 petrol at 25,190 VND (US$1.19) and 24,690 VND (US$1.17) per litre respectively.

The price of diesel increased to 22,840 VND per litre, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.

However, kerosene remained unchanged at 22,630 VND per litre, while the price of mazut (fuel oil) fell by 120 VND per litre to between 18,490 VND and 18,890 VND.

The ministries of Finance and of Industry and Trade contributed the latest increases to world prices of petrol products excluding mazut that had remained high in the past one month.

The last petrol price hike on Feb 21 adjusted prices by an average of 300 VND per litre.
