tengku-adnanPUTRAJAYA, May 15  — The three Terengganu Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen who quit Umno and returned to the party will be spared disciplinary action, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (pic) said today.

He said it was natural for human beings to make mistakes. “As far as I am concerned, the matter is settled. There is no problem,” he told reporters after officiating at the pre-launch of the Flower and Garden Festival (Floria Putrajaya) 2014 here.

The recent political developments in Terengganu began with the resignation of Kijal assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said as the menteri besar last Monday. The same night Seberang Takir assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman was appointed the menteri besar.

Early the next day, Ahmad announced he had quit Umno and become an independent assemblyman. Two other assemblymen, Gazali Taib (Ajil) and Roslee Daud (Bukit
Besi) said they had joined him.

This left the BN in a precarious position in the 32-seat state legislative assembly in which it holds 17 seats to PAS’ 14 and PKR’s one. After some coaxing by top leaders, the trio returned to Umno and the political problem was settled.

“They are not prepared to betray the party. Mereka tidak akan sanggup mengkhianati parti. This is our soul in Umno and BN. Misunderstandings take
place but in the end everything works out fine,” he said.

In KUALA LUMPUR, Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan said all Umno leaders and members should place loyalty to the party and president above being
subservient to certain leaders.

“Every member should be loyal first to the president and then to state leaders,” he told reporters after opening a conference on the goods and services
tax (GST) here.

Ahmad said the Umno leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had found a solution to the political developments in Terengganu in less than 48
hours. He said he felt that the former menteri besar had been a little emotional.
