Patna, May 19 – Bihar’s political problems seems to be coming to end with the appointment of Welfare Minister for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Jitan Ram Manjhi (pic) as the new Chief Minister of Bihar.
Nitish Kumar, the current Chief Minister has resigned as the Chief Minister of Bihar but will continue to look after the party. JD-U (Janatha Dal United) Bihar President Basisth Narayan Singh said that Nithish and Sharad Yadav will meet the governor today evening and present the name of the new Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Nithish Kumar has announced that Bihar SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes) Welfare minister Jitan Ram Manjhi to be his successor.
Manjhi who is considered close to Kumar had contested the 2014 Parliament elections from Gaya lost.
On his resignation Nitish Kumar said his decision was not taken in a wave of emotions but it was his moral responsibility to take the decision based on the defeat faced by his party at the recently concluded elections.
