KOTA BAHARU, Feb 18 – A total of 14,000 people in Kelantan will receive a RM200 voucher each under the 1Malaysia People’s Welfare Programme (KAR1SMA) to help ease their financial burden. Pengkalan Kubor Assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar said the KAR1SMA recipients comprised the low income earners, senior citizens, single mothers and people with disabilities.
“The voucher of RM200 each, which is a one-off aid, is for the recipients to redeem it for household goods, children’s school needs, groceries, etc, at selected shops in the state from today until March 31,” he told reporters after
representing International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed at the launch of the state-level “KAR1SMA@Hati Rakyat” here today.
“KAR1SMA@Hati Rakyat” is an initiative by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently.
An allocation of RM50 had been made for the purpose and will be distributed to 200,000 recipients nationwide. Recipients in the peninsula will receive RM200 each, while the recipients in Sabah and Sarawak will get RM300.
Also present at the function were Women, Family and Community Development Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur and Kelantan Federal Development Department director Datuk Makhtar Mustapha.
