safe_imageSINGAPORE, July 4 – The seventh Singapore Blog Awards is now opened for voting.

From now till July 31, 2014, members of the public can vote for their favourite bloggers and/or celebrities from 140 finalists.

“The Singapore Blog Awards also witnesses its first ‘MP versus Ministry’ contest, with Singapore’s ‘Selfie Crush’ Baey Yam Keng (@YamKeng) up against the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (@MCCYsg), vying for votes under the Favourite Twitter Influencer award in the Followers’ Choice category,” said a statement issued by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd here.

Strong competition is expected for the Followers’ Choice Favourite YouTube Channel award category, with influential names like international YouTube sensations Wong Fu Productions and Ryan Higa versus homegrown talents Tosh Rock, The Cosplay Chronicles and Dr Jiajia & BigBro.

Other big names in this category include Wah!Banana and 2013 SBA Best V-log winner Ninja Girls.

The statement said the winners for the three Followers’ Choice categories would be determined entirely by public’s votes.

In the Judges’ Choice categories, interesting blog highlights include Best Topical Blog (Love durians?, SG Unfit Runners) and Best New Blog.

For its inaugural year, the “Best New Blog” award category is opened to blogs that have been set up on or after Jan 1, 2013.

The finalists in this category have been selected based on their potential for growth, in terms of providing quality content to readers, regardless of nature of the blog content.

Winners for the Singapore Blog Awards Judges’ Choice categories are determined by a combination of online voting (30 per cent) and professional scoring (70 per cent) by a panel of independent judges appointed by omy.sg.

The theme for this year’s SBA is “Giddy Up”, and the award ceremony will be held on August 16 with Sim Ann, Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Education as the guest of honour.
