KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 – L. K. Advani, former Deputy Prime Minister of India and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is coming to Malaysia next week to attend and participate at the 21st International Sindhi Sammelan which is being held in Malaysia for the first time.
Organised by the Sindhi Association of Malaysia (SAM) in collaboration with the Alliance of Global Sindhi Associations Inc, the Sammelan will be held from 25 – 27 July 2014 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
“Kuala Lumpur is the perfect destination for the 21st Sindhi Sammelan. This is because we are surrounded by neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Hong Kong where a lot of Sindhis are living. We are the centre of Southeast Asia,” said Datuk Shah Lalchand Ranai, President of the Sindhi Association of Malaysia and Organising Chairman of the Sammelan.
Themed ‘Bridging the Gap: Our Rich Heritage & the 21st Century’, the Sammelan is set to provide the perfect environment for discussion on a wide range of topics, enrich minds and souls, and build a well connected community. In addition, the Sammelan will feature social events that will showcase the Sindhi community’s
rich culture and heritage.
Datuk Shah Lalchand Ranai was quoted saying “There will be many eminent Sindhi speakers, International and Malaysian, who will cover subjects such as our culture and religion. There will be motivation talks and also a talk by our successful Sindhi business people about their experiences.”
L. K. Advani; Mr. Ashok P. Hinduja, Executive Chairman of Hinduja Ventures Ltd; Dr. Dayal Meshri, President of the Alliance of Global Sindhi Associations Inc; and Dato’ Jegathesan, Advisor of Sathya Sai Central Council of Malaysia are among the many distinguished speakers who will be participating in the Sammelan.
The event, which is being organised in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2014, also has the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia. Y.B. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture will be giving the Opening Speech at the launch of the Sammelan on 25 July 2014.
