KUALA SELANGOR, July 24 — Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has assured the Sultan of Selangor that he will continue to serve as Menteri besar as long as his services are needed.
He said Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had indicated to him that he wanted a trustworthy, firm and responsible state government.
“I told Tuanku Sultan that I will work till I am no longer the Menteri besar,” he told reporters after attending the breaking of fast with the Sultan at the Kampung Assam Jawa mosque near here yesterday night.
Yesterday, PKR defacto head Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the party had agreed to the removal of Abdul Khalid as Menteri besar and nominated party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as successor.
Earlier, the Sultan officiated the RM3 million mosque which can accommodate
a 1,000-strong congregation at any given time.
