GEORGE TOWN, July 30 — Representatives of the MIC, PPP and several Hindu NGOs today lodged a police report against a Muslim preacher for allegedly making provocative and racist remarks directed at Hindus during a talk.
The 30 people, representing the Wanita, Youth and Putera wings of Penang MIC, PPP and Hindu NGOs made the report against Shahul Hameed Seeni Mohd at the Patani Road police station.
Penang Putera MIC chief N.G. Senthelnathan said they wanted the police to conduct an investigation and stop Shahul Hameed from giving any more talks until the probe had been completed.
“It is not wrong for him to give a talk on Islam but he should not touch on other religions,” he told reporters.
Penang MIC Youth chief A. Murugan said it was not prepared to accept an apology from Shahul Hameed over the incident because it wanted stern action to be taken against him.
