Indian Naval warship in Malaysia on goodwill visit

NEW DELHI, Aug 7 – An Indian naval warship has arrived at the Sepanggar port in Sabah on a three-day goodwill visit to Malaysia, according to a Press Trust of India report.

The INS Ranvijay entered the port on Wednesday on a visit aimed at strengthening bilateral defence ties, it said. “This is the first-ever visit by an Indian naval warship to the port and it is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing inter-operability between the navies of the two friendly nations,” the report quoted a press release from
the Indian Navy as saying.

According to the report, personnel of both the Indian and Malaysian navies would make official calls on each other and engage in professional interaction.INS Ranvijay makes up a three-warship fleet of the Indian Navy on deployment  for participation in the Indo-Russian bilateral naval exercise, INDRA, and the trilateral naval exercise, MALABAR, with the United States Navy and Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) in the Sea of Japan.

The vessel, along with the two others INS Shivalik and fleet tanker INS Shakti, a modern fleet tanker and support ship will return to India in
mid-August after a two-month-long deployment, said the report.
