New Delhi, August 22 – After the video of the brutal beheading of US journalist James Foley went viral, a massive hunt has begun for the jihadi who killed him. Investigators are analysing the footage to get clue about Foley’s death. Initial investigations say that a former hostage has identified the man as “John” from London. The FBI is leading the search.
A former hostage, Didier Francois, who was released by ISIS in April, told Europe 1 Radio he can give clue about the killer. The 53-year-old French journalist said: “Recognised is a very big word. I see roughly who it is.”
He said Foley was singled out and subjected to extra beatings because his captors had discovered pictures of his brother, who works for the US Air Force. Meanwhile, amid increase in violence in a number of Gulf countries, India on Thursday expressed deep concern over the rise of extremism in the Arab region.
“We are concerned for the stability of these countries where terrorism and fanaticism are tearing apart the fabric of societies and also concerned over the spill-over effects on regional stability,” external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj said.
