KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 – “It’s like I’m living again,” said a relieved Hamlah Hassan, the mother of MH17 stewardess Hamfazlin Sham Mohamed Arifin, 37, upon knowing that her remains would be among those of 20 victims arriving in the country tomorrow.
Hamlah, 61, said before hearing the news, she kept praying that her daughter’s remains would be found and brought back to Malaysia.”Everyday I’ve been watching the news to get updates and prayed that I could see her remains.
In the end, my prayers are answered and the relevant authorities have informed that her remains were complete,” she said when met by Bernama, here, today.According to Hamlah, before burial at the Batu Muda cemetery in Gombak,Hamfazlin Sham’s remains would be taken to the family home in Wangsa Maju.
“We will wait at the house and my daughters’s remains will then be taken to the nearby mosque for funeral prayers. Her remains will be buried after Friday prayers,” she said.
Hamfazlin’s younger sister, Hamizah Sham, 26, said they accepted the tragedy as fated.
“Her remains had already suffered during the management of the remains, so we the family members cannot see it suffer anymore…we accept as it is. The important thing is, her remains will be arriving back for burial,” she said.
The government today released the list of 20 of the MH17 crash victims from Malaysia whose remains will arrive at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport tomorrow for the official ceremony to honour the victims.
