KUCHING, Feb 22- The upcoming 13th general election will be an event that is even more significant for the Chinese community in Sarawak, particularly in Kuching, said Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president
Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui(Pic). He said the Chinese community would decide and vote on the question of whether they wanted to be part and parcel of the economic, government, politics and social transformation that would see the people march proudly to realise the nation’s Vision 2020.
“Alternatively, we can choose uncertainty, inexperienced leadership, untested economic policies, unstable government or even worse, possible social unrest by voting in the present opposition grouping, Pakatan Rakyat.” Chin said this at a pre-Chap Goh Mei gathering, organised by SUPP at the MJC Batu Kawah new township here tonight, which was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said it (general election) was, in fact, the most important issue for all Malaysians to decide and to ensure that peace and prosperity prevail in the country and, for which, the Chinese community also believed in good governance, righteousness, fairness and a chance to see their sons and daughters being able to do better going into the future.
SUPP supported this ethos and it was this Barisan Nasional (BN) state component party’s wish to play a significant role as part of Najib’s team to transform the country so as to make Vision 2020 a reality for the community, he said. Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who also spoke, said now was the best time for the state BN to reflect whether it should do something about strengthening again SUPP, which suffered losses in past elections, including two parlamentary seats in the 2008 general election.
