Akshay Kumar shoots Alisha SinghNew Delhi, September 4 – In his next outing on the small screen, Akshay Kumar aims to take dancing to another level by perfectly blending it with daring stunts in the upcoming dance reality show Dare 2 Dance.

Akshay hopes that the show would break through the clutter of innumerable dance-based reality shows, by daring its contestants to perform in extreme conditions.

For a change the reality show is not based on a borrowed idea of a hit international show or western format. An east European Production Company has already approached the production unit of Dare 2 Dance to buy the rights of the show’s unique concept, claims Ajit Thakur, General Manager, Life OK.

“In order to sustain as a different reality show, we need to offer content that gives huge adrenaline rush to the contestant as well as the audience. The contestants will perform underwater, mid air, on the ice rink and on a cliff,” said Akshay Kumar, addressing an event in the capital.

Straight from the sets of the show, which was set up in Cape Town, Akshay will now focus on his upcoming film Baby, directed by Neeraj Pandey, which will be shot in the city. After anchoring reality shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi and Masterchef India, Akshay returns to TV after a hiatus of four years.

akshay“Dancing has been very close to our hearts. Adding an element of stunt and removing the ubiquitous colourful stages has elevated its entertainment-quotient,” said Akshay while unveiling few behind-the-scene clippings of the show in which he has been spotted holding the camera as the contestants performed underwater.

“As a judge and anchor, it gets very boring to stand in a corner and watch the contestants perform and make a comment later on. Thus, I tried to capture their performance,” added Akshay.

The shows aims to feature an interesting mix of Indian and international contestants. The audience will find Paris-based professional dancer Emille Callion, British jazz dancer Scarlett Wilson, UK-based dancer Karan Pangali match steps with TV actress Sayantani Ghosh, Nach Baliye winner Ritwik Dhanjani, Dance India Dance finalist Sanam Johar and Dil Dosti Dance actress Alisha Singh.
