Marrybrown on expansion plan in India, eyes 75 outlets

NEW DELHI, Sept 5- Malaysia’s fast food chain, Marrybrown, has embarked on an expansion plan in India, eyeing mainly tier two and three cities in the Southern states of the country amid growing demand for its products.

Currently, Marrybrown has 48 outlets, of which 44 is located in Tamil Nadu and two each in Bangalore, Karnataka and Kochi, Kerala, India’s Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) reported.”By the end of this fiscal we would like to increase the number of outlets to 75 from the current 48,” the news agency quoted Ajith, Director, MGM Entertainments Pvt Ltd, the master franchisee for Marrybrown in India.

He said Marrybrown in India aimed to leverage on the first mover advantage by opening outlets in the smaller towns in the Southern State.Besides, Ajith had said that smaller town required much lesser investment compared with opening an outlet in major cities.

According to the report, Marrybrown chain in India is not confined to fried chickens and burgers alone but would also offer flavoured rice and even biryani as well as vegetarian dishes to cater to the local palate.

Marrybrown, which is Malaysia’s homegrown fast food chain, is currently the world’s largest Halal Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brand originating from Asia.It has a strong international presence with outlets operating not only in Malaysia and India but also China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Africa, the Middle East and Myanmar.
