New Delhi, October 15 – The Sawjaian area of Poonch sector in Jammu experienced heavy firing and shelling from the Pakistan Army on Wednesday morning. The Indian Army retaliated with gunfire.
The violation comes after Pakistan troops on Monday broke the ceasefire again, opening unprovoked firing on Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, police said. A woman was injured in the firing, which was retaliated from the Indian side.
Pakistan has been resorting to unprecedented targeting of civilian habitations since October 6. Eight people have been killed and 62 injured in the shelling. Over 30,000 residents of border villages are living in relief camps away from their homes to avoid casualties.
