MELAKA, October 20 – A moderate attitude in all aspects of life is an important factor in maintaining racial unity and harmony in the country, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam.
Dr Subramaniam, who is also MIC deputy president, said moderation could prevent extremism and violence that could jeopardise the unity and harmony of the people of diverse races in Malaysia.
Hence, he said, all leaders in the country, regardless of political parties or community leaders, needed to show moderation and take into consideration the needs of all communities to enhance national harmony.
He told this to reporters after attending the Deepavali Fest at Jalan Nyiru, here last night. Dr Subramaniam said the people should have mutual respect and a compromising spirit to develop the country and create political and economic stability together.
