Kolkata, November 12 – It’s raining stars in the City of Joy. Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has been spotted shooting at various locations in Kolkata for his upcoming film Piku, along with other stars like Deepika Padukone, Irrfan and Moushumi Chatterjee.
The film is being directed by Shoojit Sircar, and according to sources, the story of Piku revolves around a father-daughter relationship. While Big B plays the role of the father, Deepika, who is teaming up with him for the first time, will be essaying the role of his daughter in the movie.
Meanwhile, a bevy of Bollywood stars were also in town for the inauguration of the 20th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) on Monday. The film fest was inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee along with biggies like Shah Rukh Khan, Big B, his wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya.
Besides these stars, several Tollywood celebrities also attended the state government’s flagship event. “I urge all film-makers from across the globe to come and shoot their films in Bengal.
It is the cultural capital of the world,” said Mamata Banerjee while inaugurating the KIFF late on Monday evening. She said there was everything, from beautiful sea beaches to picturesque hills, in the state. The CM also thanked Big B and his entire family for gracing the KIFF occasion.
Meanwhile, to SRK, the CM said: “Don’t think this is enough. You have to come every year along with your full family,” said Banerjee, dubbing him Bengal’s beloved brand ambassador.
