TAMBUNAN, Feb 26 – Residents of the Tambunan district are upbeat over the approval for the construction of the RM40 million Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Desa Wawasan, whose students had been squatting at Sekolah Kebangsaan Garas, Mukim Kirokot near here.  Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan(Pic) said the approval of  SMK Desa Wawasan reflected the federal government’s concern on the educational and manpower development of the Kadazandusun Murut community.

Pairin“We are grateful to the federal government for approving the construction of the long awaited school.

“Obviously, the prime minister’s administration is getting closer to the people of Sabah.

“For four years, he (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) has been working hard, diligently, continuously, and listening to the voice of the people by traversing the country,” he said at the presentation of the phase two of the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) here, yesterday.

The allocation was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the 1Malaysia People’s Gathering in Keningau on Saturday.  Pairin said the prime minister not only brought many changes through various transformation programmes and the 1Malaysia concept for the benefit of the people, but also listened to the people’s grievances like the setting up the Royal Commission (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah.
