xbox-windows-10New Delhi, January 23 – On Wednesday, Microsoft announced a raft of new features that are being added to its upcoming Windows 10 operating system. The company announced that a new version of the Windows 10 technical preview will be available for users in the coming week.

As a part of its plans for Windows 10, Microsoft announced that it is going to offer an Xbox app for all Windows 10 devices and the OS itself will be pushed out to the gaming console.

With the Xbox app, Microsoft will bring the Xbox Live social gaming experience to the PC. Apart from that, the company has also announced that players will be able to collaborate online on games that are available on both Windows and Xbox One. Microsoft also announced  Fable Legends to Windows 10 PCs.

The Xbox app will also add the game DVR functionality to PCs. The addition of Windows 10 to Xbox One will ensure easier and faster development of games. Microsoft will also be able to offer a wider variety of applications.

Microsoft has added a streaming capability on Xbox One. This will allow users to stream games directly off the console to any Windows device. This is similar to what Sony is doing with the PlayStation 4, where users can stream games on to the PS Vita or Sony’s smartphones.

Streaming via a Xbox One could be a bigger deal because of the sheer number of Windows devices out there. The Direct X 12 API is also being added to phones and it promises better games that use lesser power.

Overall, Microsoft claims that it provides 50 per cent better performance on games that are more CPU intensive. The company also announced that the Unity game engine has now added support for Direct X 12. Previously, the Unreal Engine 4 had added support for the API.

“Now, we are also bringing that same focus, passion, and commitment to gaming on Windows 10, enhancing the PC games and gaming devices you already love, including the Xbox One.

We’ve listened and learned from our past efforts in PC gaming and I am excited about what the future holds,” said Phil Spencer, who heads Xbox at Microsoft .
