MONTEVIDEO, Feb 28 – A satellite built by Uruguayan entities will be tested in the United States to determine its capacity to enter operations.
According to the Ministry of Communication of the Presidency, the satellite will be tested in the second half of this year at the University of California.
“If controls are favourable, this would be the first Uruguayan technology in space,” said Carolina Cosse, president of the state-owned communications company Antel, who developed the device along with the University of the Republic (UdelaR).
The project includes the development of the structure, energy and communications systems, controls, launch and operation, as well as the installation of two ground stations.
