KOTA KINABALU, Feb 28- Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), one of the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties in the state, will celebrate its 28th anniversary at Hakka Hall, Likas on March 5. Announcing this, PBS information chief Datuk Johnny Mositun said, a range of events were lined up for the celebration-cum-social night, amidst the party’s final phase of preparation for the coming 13th General Election. These included anniversary message from party president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, a special song presentation by PBS supreme council members and lucky draw, he said.
“Our president (Pairin) will possibly deliver his speech that underlines or tells the story of PBS’ struggle before and up till now, including the issue of illegal immigrants in Sabah and the setting up of the Sabah Royal Commission of Inquiry on illegal immigrants,” he told Bernama here today. About 1,200 people, including representatives from PBS divisions, are expected to attend the anniversary celebration. He said the organiser would also extend an invitation to the party’s veteran leaders to attend the celebration.
PBS was registered as a political party on March 5, 1985 amidst an uncertain and turbulent political environment. In the April 1985 State Election, PBS won 26 of the 48 Legislative Assembly seats and subsequently formed the new state government with Pairin as chief minister.
