In a brief press statement issued today Palanivel said as follows:-
“It has been widely published in the media that a meeting chaired by the Deputy President of MIC was held at the Grand Seasons Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on 24 January. As stated earlier, I had not called for or sanctioned any meeting of the MIC and requested any such meeting planned to be called off.”
“However, the meeting had been proceeded with despite my request. The meeting held is illegal as it was done against the provisions of the Party Constitution. Consequently, any decision made or resolution passed during the illegal meeting shall also be illegal and of no effect.”
“I am contemplating whether stern actions need to be taken against those responsible with regard to the meeting held. As explained earlier I am pursuing the matter of the ROS.”
