KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — Traffic flow on the North-South Expressway (Plus) from the North heading to the capital is expected to experience congestion in conjunction with the Thaipusam celebrations.
Deputy Senior Manager Corporate Communications Department PLUS, Iskandar Zulkifli said about 1.5 million people will use the route on Monday and Tuesday.
“The public can plan their itinerary and obtain the latest information on the traffic situation via the toll-free Plusline at 1800-88-0000 and on Twitter at www.twitter.com/plustrafik,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) said traffic along the tolled highways in the Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway and East-Coast Expressway remained smooth and controlled.
Gombak police chief, ACP Ali Ahmad, said among the routes closed for Thaipusam are Jalan Perusahaan, Batu Caves roundabout from Selayang and the Middle Ring Road Two to Batu Caves.
He said the traffic situation is still manageable so far.
