JOHOR BAHARU, March 2- The state government has resolved the issue involving 10 squatter villages with some 10,000 residents in Pasir Gudang with the transfer of land ownership and relocation, said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman(Pic).

He said the government was took time to resolve the issue as it had to go s through various processes and the squatter villages were located on land owned by a public listed company.  The state government had already solved the problem of four squatter villages today six more received a certificate of fitness for the residential site, he said in a speech at a certificate of eligibility presentation ceremony for the Kampung Melayu Pandan resettlement, here, today.

“Meanwhile, Kampung Melayu Pandan will be relocated to a new site of 8.4 hectares and 260 families will receive a four-room terrace house only two kilometres from their original village,” he said.

He said residents of Kampung Melayu Pandan only needed to pay RM25,000 to own a home that was worth RM75,000. Besides that, the new housing area developed at a cost of RM86.1 million would also be equipped with various facilities including a school, surau and 20 stalls, he said. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also Pasir Gudang MP, who was present, said the Johor government’s success in tackling the issue of six squatter settlements had solved a large part of squatter woes in the district.

“The government is offering the best for residents of Kampung Melayu Pandan as they only need to pay RM25,00 for a RM75,000 house.

“This is an apt solution with the agreement of the villagers who have stayed here for almost 60 years,” said Khaled who was grateful for the Menteri Besar’s concern.
