KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 – Two media staff of a news portal arrested yesterday over a report allegedly linking the Conference of Rulers to the issue of the proposed implementation of the hudud law in PAS-led Kelantan were released on police bail today.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Zainuddin Ahmad, when contacted, said the staff, aged 47 and 56, were released at about 10.30 am.
They were held at about 11 am yesterday under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act 1948.
Five media staff of the portal, four of them editors and one, a director, had been arrested over the investigation into the report.
Three of them were held on Monday at their office in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, and were released at about 6.30 pm yesterday.
All of them were investigated by the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
