KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 – The High Court today set June 12 and 13 for the hearing of the defamation suit filed by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi against Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) strategic director Mohd Rafizi Ramli(Pic) over an article in his blog. Judicial Commissioner Lee Heng Cheong set the date in the presence of Ahmad Zahid’s lawyer Saseedharan Menon and Latheefa Koya who represented Mohd Rafizi.
On June 25, Ahmad Zahid filed the suit claiming that Mohd Rafizi had posted the article on his blog RafiziRamli.com, saying it was false and written with a malicious intention to portray him (Ahmad Zahid) in a negative light. Ahmad Zahid is seeking general, special and exemplary damages with a full recall of the article, and an apology in four local dailies.
He is also seeking an order to restrain the defendant from posting the article again or using it at general election speeches, gatherings and campaigning.
