IPOH, March 6 – The people, particularly the Indian community and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) representing the community, have expressed their dissatisfaction and criticised Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham(Pic) for his statement on the social website which was described as insulting them.

ngehIndian Affairs Advisor to the Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk S. Veerasingam said he had received many telephone calls from the Indian community demanding Ngeh, who is also the State Assemblyman for Sitiawan, to tender his apology or face their protests.

“The Indian community is very angry, no one can be bought…if he (Ngeh) feels that way, the community should reject him one hundred per cent. I also hope the Indian community in the opposition will reject him for insulting the Indians,” he said when met here today.

He described the statement by Ngeh on Twitter as most extreme and rude. Last Sunday, Ngeh issued the following statement on Twitter: “For too long Beruas Indians have been cheated of their votes by BN’s sarees, Milo, mutton
curry & beers”.

Veerasingam said the Indian community concerned demanded that Ngeh tendered his apology or they would stage a protest in Beruas.
