PETALING JAYA: MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek(Pic) has added his voice to Barisan Nasional’s chorus of condemnation of PKR strategy director Tian Chua over his remarks about the Sulu invasion of Sabah.
In a press statement calling for an end to political bickering over the invasion, Chua took swipes at Tian Chua as well as PKR chief Anwar Ibrahim.
He accused Tian Chua of infringing “the perimeters of social decorum” in attempting to link the invasion to Umno’s political interests and urged Anwar to “explain to all Malaysians that he is not involved, as alleged by some foreign press”.
“It is in times of crisis that we see the true colour of these politicians, who use an act of terrorism by foreign forces to score political points,” he added.
“We should instead give blessings and support to our brave men from the security forces. It is not about politics but about protecting our nation’s sovereignty.”
Chua also announced that MCA would donate RM2,000 to the family of every security personnel who has been killed in the conflict ensuing from the invasion.
“The MCA would like to put on record our gratitude to the police, the armed forces and the maritime authorities for a job well done in ensuring our shores are protected from the forces of terrorism,” he said.
“We would also like to pay tribute to the patriots of our nation who have fearlessly fought the armed intruders so that our honour and sovereignty is protected.
“Our heartfelt sympathies go to the bereaved families of our heroes who have sacrificed their lives so that other Malaysians are kept safe from the threat of terrorists.
“Our hearts and prayers are with our uniformed men who are still in Lahad Datu to drive out our enemies. Each one of them deserves the badge of honour.”
