KUANTAN, July 1 – Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob today led 42 Pahang assemblymen in taking their oath of office before Speaker Datuk Ishak Muhammad ahead of the opening of the first meeting of the 13th State Legislative Assembly at Wisma Seri Pahang here.
Earlier, Ishak, who is former Bebar assemblyman, took his oath of office as the Speaker, in place of Datuk Seri Wan Mohamad Razali Wan Mahussin.
Adnan also proposed for Jenderak assemblyman Datuk Muhammed Jaafar to be appointed as Deputy Speaker, while Mohd Sharkar seconded.
The first meeting of the 13th State Assembly will be officially open by the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, tomorrow and the sitting is expected to take place until July 8.
Barisan Nasional retained power in Pahang after winning 30 out of 42 state seats, while the PKR-DAP-PAS pact won the remaining 12 seats.
In his speech, Ishak said all elected representatives must strive to serve the people and fulfill their needs and aspiration with dedication.
“The people’s aspiration must be voiced out in a transparent manner in this hall because the people have given their mandate for you to represent them,” he added.
