Chennai – Tamil Nadu voters overwhelmingly voted in favour of Jayalalaithaa’s AIDMK party in the State Assembly elections held on 16th May.
In the final tally released by the Indian Election Commission, AIDMK won 134 seats while Karunanithi’s DMK won 89 seats. Congress won 08 seats and another coalition party with DMK, Indian Muslim League won 1 seat.
With these results candidates for all the 232 constituencies have been officially announced.
Elections for Thanjavur and Aravakurichi which were deferred will now be held on May 23 and the results would be announced on May 25.
Jayalalitha will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for a record sixth time on the 23rd of May. If she completes her term of 5 years, then she will go down in history as the longest serving Chief Minister.
