NEW DELHI — The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Thursday asked the Indian government to act against those behind Delhi’s violence that has killed more than 30 people.In a statement, the Jeddah-based organisation representing 57 countries in a statement condemned the violence in the Indian capital’s northeast.
Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 34 and more than 200 were reported injured in this week’s violence over India’s controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Many victims are being treated at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, a major healthcare centre near the localities that bore the brunt of the violence on Monday and Tuesday.
Sporadic violence was reported on Wednesday with residents living in fear of new attacks in the troubled areas.
