KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 190 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported as at noon today, bringing the tally to 428, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.He said preliminary investigations showed that most of the new cases were linked to the cluster at the tabligh assembly at the Sri Petaling Mosque recently.
Seven more patients have recovered and been discharged from the Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor, bringing the total number of fully recovered cases to 42.
“So far, nine COVID-19-positive cases are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and require the use of breathing aid,” he said in a statement here today.
Dr Adham said the Health Ministry was actively conducting investigation and tracing of participants of the tabligh assembly and urged them to contact the nearest District Health Office (PKD) for further action.
“The same goes for close contacts of positive cases of COVID-19, patients under investigation (PUI) who do not meet the criteria for hospital admission, they too need to be placed under the control and observation order according to the provisions of the same Act,” he added.
In this connection, he said all state health departments and PKD had conducted activities related to control of COVID-19 among the tabligh congregation and also other suspected COVID-19 cases to curb the spread of the virus.
“All parties are urged to give their close cooperation to the ministry and to work together to contain the spread (of this virus) by following the official advice issued,” he said.
He also advised Malaysians not to share any information that can create public anxiety, adding that the ministry would continue to monitor developments on COVID-19 and disseminate the correct information from time to time.
