KayveasPETALING JAYA: PPP will contest in one parliamentary and four state seats in the 13th general election on May 5, party president Datuk Seri M. Kayveas confirmed.

In his Twitter account, he said the party was allocated the Kepong parliamentary seat and four state seats – one each in Malacca, Selangor, Perak and Kelantan.

“Getting a total of five seats for PPP is an achievement,” Kayveas said in his tweet, after the letters of appointment for Barisan Nasional election candidates were presented at the Putra World Trade Centre earlier Monday.

“All five seats for PPP are seats lost in the last (2008) elections,” he added.

Kayveas said the fight for the seats will be tough but “someone has to take these seats.”

In the 2008 polls, PPP contested in two seats – the Taiping parliamentary seat and Pasir Bedamar state seat.

Kayveas, who contested in Taiping, lost to DAP’s Nga Kor Ming by a margin of 11,298 votes.

In Pasir Bedamar, PPP’s Lee Heng was defeated by DAP’s Seah Leong Peng by a 7,914-vote majority.
