MELAKA, April 29 – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Barisan Nasional (BN) is now getting bigger support from the Chinese-majority areas which will ensure that the coalition will be returned to power in the 13th general election (GE13).
The Deputy Prime Minister said that he was confident of the BN victory based on the positive feedback received regarding the people’s support for the ruling party now.
He said the BN machinery was moving smoothly throughout the country and the campaign had received clear support from the voters.
“There is better support, the problems which were reported to have cropped up earlier in terms of candidate selection had been resolved, the machinery is moving. I have gone to almost all the states, I notice the response for our campaign efforts have been positive with clear support from the voters.
“We expect the BN will continue to remain in power and winning an encouraging number of seats,” he told reporters after launching the construction of the overhead pedestrian bridge at Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Wen Hua, here today.
In fact, he said, the constituencies where the Chinese community formed the majority had also shown increasing support for the BN.
“In Chinese areas, there is also increasing support compared with a week ago, so this trend gives us an advantage,” he said.
However, he said, the period running up to polling day on May 5 must be utilised by the BN machinery fully to increase support for the BN especially in the areas categorised as ‘grey’.
“This gives us more room to work harder so that we can retain the white areas, and convert the grey areas to become whiter. So the campaign activities by the party machinery will be more important in the next few days,” he said.
Muhyiddin said the opposition pact was also seen to be more shaky and desperate to the extent that they were resorting to tactics criticising the BN leaders to fish for votes.
