KUALA LUMPUR, July 9- Moody’s Investors Service has affirmed Malayan Banking Bhd’s (Maybank) long-term local currency deposit rating of ‘A1’ and long-term foreign currency deposit rating of ‘A3’, with stable outlooks.
In a statement today, Moody’s also affirmed Maybank’s bank financial strength rating (BFSR) of ‘C’, which was equivalent to a baseline credit assessment (BCA) of ‘a3’.
“Today’s affirmation of Maybank’s ‘A1’ deposit rating reflects our view that the bank continues to maintain stable and robust credit fundamentals relative to similarly rated banks globally.
“The ‘A1’ local currency deposit rating is driven by the bank’s ‘a3’ BCA, plus two notches of uplift to reflect Moody’s systemic support assumptions,” it said.
