The call came from Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek who noted that PAS had failed to play its role to develop the state when ruling Terengganu during its single 1999-2004 term.
“I urge the voters to recall what PAS did when they were given the oportunity to rule Terengganu.
I do not want to talk about development because PAS is not interested in development. There were no mosques, madrasah, religious schools and roads built at that time.
“But, we must remember how cruel they were when they chased away kindergarten pupils from schools throughout Terengganu.
“They (PAS) continue to defend their move and have never apologised to the people for their previous action,” said the Kemaman member of parliament.
Ahmad Shabery, who is also communication and multimedia minister, noted that should PAS return to rule Terengganu in the future, there was a possibility that Barisan Nasional (BN)-built schools and community halls would not not function for the reason they were built in the first place.
This would be in line with PAS’ fervour to flaunt its power, he said.
As such, he urged leaders of PAS which ruled Terengganu at that time to make an admission of their mistakes to the public, if they regretted that incident.
