Kuala Lumpur, Nov 10 – Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was returned unopposed as PAS president after nomination for the party election ended yesterday.
Abdul Hadi is into his sixth term as PAS president since taking over the post from the late Datuk Fadzil Mohd Noor in 2002.
Datuk Harun Taib was returned unopposed as Dewan Ulama chief, said PAS election committee chairman Asmuni Awi, here Saturday.
The deputy president’s post will see a straight fight between incumbent Mohamad Sabu and Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
Five candidates vying for the three vice-presidents posts are central committee member Datuk Abu Bakar Chik, former Kelantan Exco member Datuk Husam Musa (incumbent), Pokok Sena Member of Parliament Datuk Mahfuz Omar (incumbent), former Kubang Kerian Member of Parliament Salahuddin Ayub (incumbent) and PAS information chief Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
The PAS Youth chief’s post will involve a three-cornered fight between Federal Territory PAS Youth chief Kamaruzzaman Mohamad, former Johor PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kiat and Zulhazmi Zakaria.
The Muslimat PAS chief’s post will see a straight fight between incumbent Siti Zailah Mohd Yusof and former Muslimat chief Nuridah Salleh.
The PAS muktamar (congress) will be held on Nov 22.
