Air India records two emergency landing within 24 hours

NEW DELHI, Aug 23 – India’s flag carrier, Air India recorded two emergency landing within 24 hours, a flight that was on its way to Ahmedamad from Delhi Friday and another one that was heading to Delhi from Cochin, Kerala on Thursday.

The Press Trust of India (PTI) reported that the Air India flight from Delhi to Ahmedabad carrying 104 passengers made an emergency landing in Jaipur after a
problem in one of its engines.The Airbus 321, which left Delhi at 6am, landed safely at 7:25am here, the news agency quoted Sanganer Airport Director S N Borkar as saying.

According to the report, the pilot informed the Jaipur Air Traffic Controller (ATC) about some technical problem in the aircraft following which it was diverted and allowed to land in Jaipur, which is about 277 km away from Delhi.

An English Daily, The Hindu had earlier reported that an Air India, AI047 bound for New Delhi from Cochin International Airport, Kerala made an emergency landing about 20 minutes after take-off on Thursday night.

The flight which had 120 passengers on board took off at 9pm when the pilot realised that one of the engines had developed a snag.The pilot immediately informed the ATC, which promptly alerted the airport.Fire units in the vicinity were hastily summoned and the aircraft made a safe landing, the report said.
