KUALA LUMPUR, January 31 – AirAsia X Bhd today confirmed that Azran Osman Rani is vacating his post as Chief Executive Officer, effective today.
The low-cost long-haul airline has appointed AirAsia Co-Founder Datuk Kamarudin Meranun as its new Group Chief Executive Officer and Benyamin Ismail
as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, with immediate effect, as part of an on-going reorganisation exercise.
In a statement here today, AirAsia X said in the newly created role, Kamarudin would spearhead development of the overarching strategy for the AirAsia X Group, which encompassed AirAsia X, AirAsia X Thailand and Indonesia AirAsia Extra.
Kamarudin and Benyamin would both lead the reorganisation and turnaround exercise to strengthen the company’s balance sheet and maximise profitability to ensure a stronger financial footing for the company.
Kamarudin said with this robust plan in place, AirAsia X would advance to the next chapter of growth and uphold its leadership position in the long-haul, low-cost market. On his appointment, Benyamin said AirAsia X would continue to expand into new markets to build an unbeatable regional network.
He joined AirAsia Bhd in 2010, heading up the Investor Relations team and most recently, played the role of Group Head of Corporate Development, Implementation and Investor Relations.
