Port Dickson, July 4 –  Dato Balakrishnan, Chairman of MIC Teluk Kemang division has declared his support for Dr Subra, delivering a serious blow to Palanivel’s camp as this is the division where Palanivel’s strongest ally Datuk S.Sothinathan’s branch is located.

sothinathanSothinathan is also the former Member of Parliament of Teluk Kemang.

“Much has been said and spoken on the MIC crisis in entirety. I, as the Chairman of the Teluk Kemang MIC Division have been an observer of this situation all along. I have not thrown my support to any sides as I did not want to follow my instincts. But now since the judgment of the courts and ROS directives are clear and precise, we in Teluk Kemang throw our undivided support behind Datuk Seri Dr.Subramaniam for his call of unity”Dato Balakrishnan declared in his press statement released yesterday.

MIC sources pointed out that Balakrishnan’s move is a serious setback for Datuk Seri G.Palanivel and his team because Datuk Balakrishnan was always seen as a strong ally of Sothinathan and Palanivel.

MIC logo“As the former President, Datuk Seri G.Palanivel had filed for Judicial Review on ROS directives and I was waiting for the outcome to decide on my next course of action. I want to be right in my actions, according to law and the Constitution of the MIC. This was wholly for the benefit of the division and the party,” Balakrishnan stressed in his statement.

“Since the courts dismissed the application and stated that the ROS was right, I urge all the branch chairmen under my division to follow just that. There are 74 branches in Teluk Kemang Division,” said Balakrishnan.

“Although a small fraction is still emotionally engulfed in support for  G.Palanivel, I would like to state that 90% of the branches are filing in their nominations on the 10th of July 2015, as per the instructions of the valid 2009 Interim CWC Committee headed by Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam,” Balakrishnan stated.

“The best and safest thing to do now is to abide by the law and the directives of the ROS. I urge the opposing faction not to meddle into affairs of the division for their personal benefit. I further urge all MIC branch chairmen across the nation to file in their nominations as per dates set by the 2009 Interim CWC Committee. Let us move forward for a more vibrant and better MIC!” Balakrishnan said.

MIC sources indicated that several MIC branches and divisions, have shifted their allegiance to Dr Subra and Balakrishnan is one such example.

The change of heart comes because of the June 15 KL High Court ruling and the subsequent endorsement of Dr Subra as the Acting President by the RoS.
