Tan Sri Ravindran to receive Barathiya Samman award from Indian govt

slider-tan-sri ravindranNEW DELHI, Jan 4  — The Indian government will confer the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award to Tan Sri Ravindran Menon, ARA Group of Companies Group Executive and President of the All Malaysia Malayalee Association.

The award would be conferred on him by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at the 11th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (Overseas Indians’ Day), at Kochi on January 9, said a statement today.

This award is conferred by the Government of India on persons of Indian origin, non-resident Indians or organisations/institutions established and run by non-resident Indians or persons of Indian origin who have made significant contributions in their fields and for building closer links between India, the overseas Indian community and their country of residence.

Ravindran is the fifth eminent Malaysian of Indian origin to receive the award after Tan Sri Ajit Singh (2011), Tan Sri G.Vadiveloo (2009), Tan Sri Dr K.R. Somasundram (2007), and Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu (2003).
