JERANTUT, March 11 – The people, especially the youths, should be enlightened on Umno’s struggle and good deeds, said Jerantut Umno division head Tan Sri Tengku Azlan Sultan Abu Bakar(Pic). He said this was important for minority Umno members had eroded the confidence of the people due to their bad attitude by pursuing vested interests, instead that of the party.
“In yesteryears, Umno members were willing to sacrifice their lives and properties for the party because Umno blood flowed in them, but now some members are after personal gains,” he added. Tengku Azlan, who is also member of Parliament for Jerantut, said Umno has served the people well since its inception till the Prime Minister Datuk Seri
Najib Tun Razak’s era, but many people were still not grateful or thankful.
“We should be thankful for having a responsible government that provides various facilities to the people and maintains peace and harmony in the country,” he said at the launch of the Jerantut Umno Election Machinery at Dataran Mat Kilau, Pulau Tawar here today.
Tengku Azlan said the failure of the people to understand Umno’s struggle since independence had resulted in negative perception of the people on the party’s resolve.
