KUALA KUBU BAHARU, March 11- Wanita Umno is looking at the possibility of fielding its candidate for a seat in the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency in the looming 13th general election (GE13). Wanita Umno head Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil(Pic) said the Wanita Umno candidate for the constituency would be capable of discharging her responsibility if given the chance.
“In Hulu Selangor, there is one parliamentary constituency and three state seats. I believe there is room for Wanita Umno,” she said, adding that she would propose to the top Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership to field a woman candidate in the constituency in GE13.
She disclosed this to reporters after launching the ‘Program Sentuhan Medik’, National Welfare Foundation (YKN) at Taman Desa, Ulu Yam, Batang Kali near here today. Also present was Hulu Selangor Member of Parliament P.Kamalanathan. Shahrizat is the YKN chairman.
The ‘Program Sentuhan Medik’ is a YKN pioneer program in providing medical aid services to rural and urban dwellers such as free medical examination and also an ambulance for use by residents in Hulu Selangor. Meanwhile, Kamalanathan said the Indian community must carry out detailed evaluation before choosing a government that was capable of looking after their welfare in GE13.
He said the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) did not look after the interests of the Indian community in Selangor after the party took over the administration of the state beginning in 2008 until now.
