Kuala Lumpur (dpa) – Malaysian police said Wednesday they had detained eight more people, including four Malaysians and four foreigners, on suspicion of being involved in a deadly bombing in Bangkok last month.

Thai police have been informed of the arrests in Kuala Lumpur and the state of Kelantan, police Deputy Inspector General Noor Rashid Ibrahim told reporters.

The detained Malaysian nationals were also suspected of trafficking foreigners into the country, he said, although he did not comment on whether these included the four foreign suspects.

Three people were arrested earlier this month in connection with the bombing on August 17, but Rashid said that investigators had not established a link between them and the Bangkok attack.

The bombing at the Erawan Hindu shrine in the centre of the Thai capital killed 20 people and injured more than 100 others.
