Kuala Lumpur -In a sudden turn of events, MIC Information Chief Datuk V.S.Mohan announced today he is going for Vice Presidency in the forthcoming MIC elections scheduled on November 6.
The following is the full text of his press statement released today:
“Humbly I would like to announce that I will be running for Vice President in the up-coming MIC election. The party is now over 69 years old and the frontrunner political organization representing the Indian community. I truly believe that this stage in the election cycle is the appropriate time to consider the future direction and to implement key personnel changes and keep the party moving forward.
With this in mind I will take the moral opportunity which comes with responsibility to stand for Vice President and trust it would facilitate the process taken by the party President YB Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam in his reformation agenda for our beloved party.
As you all know that I have some experiences working as Negeri Sembilan state MIC secretary from 2000 to 2009 and later was elected as the state assemblyman of Jeram Padang and a EXCO Member. In 2009 and 2013 party elections, I have been elected as a CWC Member and later was appointed as MIC Information Officer, the position which am holding till now.
During my service in the state executive council, I have resolved issues related to public concerns such as school land issues , Indian settlements , low cost housing, public welfare needs, Indian youth empowerment, obtained allocation for NGOs , streamlined Tamil School Governors Board. Over the years I also have good engagements with MIC leaders nationwide .
I would like to continue focus serving at the national level and therefore with humble notes, I hope MIC delegates will give me an opportunity to serve as a Vice President in this respectful party.”
