Kuala Lumpur – MIC’s strategic director Datuk Seri S.Vel Paari has surprised many that he is withdrawing from the Vice Presidential race and instead going for a Central Working Committee position.
In a short press statement released today Vel Paari said “After discussion with party leadership, I have decided to contest for the CWC position instead of Vice President of MIC. It was not an easy decision to make. I have already traveled around the country campaigning has a candidate for Vice President. I was humbled by the support I received for my candidacy. Majority said in addition to my services, electing me was their way to repay my father for his sacrifices to MIC”.
“But for party solidarity and unity, my need does not outweigh the need of MIC and the community. Hence I am offering myself as a CWC candidate. I thank all those who showed their sincere support to me and I now humbly seek their support for me as a candidate for CWC” Vel Paari further stated in his press statement.
Meanwhile MIC Information chief Datuk V.S.Mohan announced today that he is contesting for the Vice Presidency in the forthcoming party elections.
