KUALA KRAI, March 15- Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today the security forces’ personnel were not alone in their fight to defend the country from the Sulu terrorists in Lahad Datu, Sabah.  The prime minister said the majority of Malaysians fully supported all the measures to eliminate the enemy.

“As Malaysians, we must say that our warriors are not alone in the fight.

” All of us gathered here in Kuala Krai and the majority of Malaysians fully support the measures taken to wipe out the nation’s enemies,” he said when addressing more than 45,000 people at a “Leader with the People” event at the Kuala Krai Mara Junior Science College, here.

Najib, who is on a day-long visit to Kelantan, said he was angered by the attitude of opposition politicians who ridiculed the terrorist intrusion in Lahad Datu.

He said sovereignty and security were not matters to be toyed with. The prime minister said it was saddening to see the national warriors getting killed in the defence of the nation from the terrorists. It was more saddening to see the families of these brave men as they received the bodies of their slain husband and father, he added.

Eight policemen and two soldiers have been killed since March 1 by the Sulu terrorists who had holed up in Kampung Tanduo near Lahad Datu since Feb 12 and rejected a government move to get them to surrender.  Fifty-six terrorists have also been killed, many of them in an ongoing government offensive dubbed “Ops Daulat” launched on March 5.

The prime minister said the opposition parties which ridiculed the country’s sovereignty and security should be rejected by the people in the 13th general election.  Earlier, Najib was greeted upon arrival by the singing of the “Barisan Kita” patriotic song by those present, after which a “doa” (prayer) was held and “Al Fatihah” was read for the fallen heroes.

International Trade and Industry Minister and Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Deputy Finance Minister and Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin and Kuala Krai Umno chief Datuk Ramzi Abdul Rahman were also present at the event.
