Kuala Lumpur – MIC Secretary General Datuk A.Sakthivel has denied recent allegations leveled against him by former MIC member Datuk R.Ramanan. “I categorically deny all allegations and accusations made by Dato Ramanan Ramakrishnan. The accusations made are malicious and made in bad faith” he said in a press statement released today.
“I refer to a press conference made by a former MIC member, Dato Ramanan Ramakrishnan, accusing me of corruption, extortion and misuse of my position as Non Executive Director of Tenaga Nasional Berhad. Reference is also made to publications of the said press conference is a few print and online media. I categorically deny all allegations and accusations made by Dato Ramanan Ramakrishnan. The accusations made are malicious and made in bad faith. There is absolutely no truth in any of the allegations and are purely fictitious. I was appointed Non Executive Director of TNB and have always carried out my obligations in a transparent and responsible manner, till date” said Sakthivel (pic), who is also the Chairman of MIC Puchong Division.
“Ramanan seems to be ill knowledged of the awarding of contracts in Tenaga Nasional Berhad, or for that matter in any government linked companies. There are due processes and procedures to follow in a tender and it is not in the hands if one man.The timing of which prompted Ramanan to have made the accusations is also extremely questionable. Of late, Ramanan has been on the prowl,making personal attacks against MIC leaders, and I am now the latest in the list. That too, after the courts allowed MIC to intervene in the ongoing court case and as the Secretary General of the party, I am also a witness” Sakthivel further noted in his press statement.
“Numerous attempts have been made by Ramanan (pic) to discredit MIC leaders and create chaos in the party. This attack is an addition to his antics of trying to destabilise the party. So much so, he has gone to an ugly extent of labelling the party as Malaysian Criminal Party. I have instructed my lawyers to assess Ramanan’s allegations made against me and will initiate legal action, soonest. I will do what it takes to clear all the false allegations and accusations made against me. Meanwhile, I would like to remind and caution Dato Ramanan Ramakrishnan not to disturb or disrupt the unity and stability of Malaysian Indian Congress. We are on a path of progress under the leadership of our President, Datuk Seri Dr.S.Subramaniam” Sakthivel said.
